Treo by Palm Centro Review
The Palm Company recently made some software modifications to its smartphone, the Centro. The Palm Centro is the smallest Palm OS smartphone on the market. This phone is particularly geared to the younger demographic. Not only is it a phone, but also the Palm Centro allows a user access to their email, an opportunity to browse the web and lots of options for messaging. The Treo has a calendar where you can organize all of your day-to-day events and appointments. There is plenty of room for a variety of contacts. For those who are into sending photos, the Treo makes that a reality. Treo is also very well versed in its ability to save favorite tunes and to share them with other people.
The design of the Treo is sleek, and well, very smart looking. There is a large color touch screen and a keypad that is easy to negotiate. Treo is equally versatile for those using it for their own personal use or for business.
The VersaMail e-mail application can be installed directly on the Treo by way of the Centro Over the Air (OTA). It is important to be aware of this so after purchase you do not decide to download it to your computer.
Some of the improvements made to the Treo by Palm Centro include the aforementioned enhancement to the IMAP compatibility. There is also an updated setup wizard. Palm Centro has implicated way to decrease or completely eradicate the concern over the failure of emails to be transmitted when using Microsoft’s Direct Push technology via Exchange ActiveSync in VersaMail.
Pros
- The Treo by Palm Centro is a newbie but it is showing promise.
- Very compact and stylish looking
- Runs on EVDO technology.
- The Treo has both a full keyboard as well as a touch screen.
- An “off” button is a part of this phone so if you do not want to be connected to the Internet you do not have to be.
Cons
- The negative points are nothing out of the ordinary for new phones of this nature but certainly worth a mention:
- Due to its tiny size, the Treo’s keyboard can be difficult to use for those people who have medium to large size fingers (this may explain why it might appeal to younger people and not those of a more mature age).
- There are fewer features on this phone than there are on other models of phones.
Overall
The Treo by Palm Centro is a mighty phone for its size. If you are a person who enjoys technology, then this is a good choice of phone for you. Be aware that this phone is geared towards the younger generation.
